The first time I visited Yosemite was during my Southwest Road Trip in 2009. Snow was threatening to strand my friend and I there just when we arrived. Having no tire chains, we had to continue on. What a shame. So, I returned there in August 2011 on my way to Oregon. But, I was enjoying my day so much, I didn’t bother to take more than a few photos that time as well. (I know, I’m hopeless.)
Here’s what UNESCO has to say about Yosemite:
Yosemite National Park lies in the heart of California. With its ‘hanging’ valleys, many waterfalls, cirque lakes, polished domes, moraines and U-shaped valleys, it provides an excellent overview of all kinds of granite relief fashioned by glaciation. At 600–4,000 m, a great variety of flora and fauna can also be found here.
