Portland – 2013

Portland, Oregon, is my new home. So far, I love it! And, not just for the beer (Portland boasts more breweries, at 52, than any city in the world. It’s also America’s largest craft brewing market, with 69 breweries in the greater metro area) the wine (more than 300 wineries in the state of Oregon, with about a dozen “urban wineries” in Portland), or the creative foods. It’s mostly the people here: they make you feel like all is okay (and nowhere near the asshole¬†quotient of so many other big cities in the world).

Many of the images in this slideshow are from one fine day in July when my housemate, Hiromi, and I went to town. The morning began with a festival (Portland has a zillion of them year-round), leading to a walk in the city in the afternoon, and drinks at the bar/cafe/movie theater (I kid you not) by late afternoon, where I had Portland’s famous flaming “Spanish Coffee.”

More on Portland please. tipsTip: Don’t just try the great craft brews, but the amazing (pinot noir) wines from nearby Dundee Hills as well.
When: July 2013
