Koh Samet

Koh Samet (sometimes called “Ko Samed”) is a resort island closest to Bangkok, which gets an interesting mix of foreign tourists, expats working in the city, Thais on holiday, and Chinese on packaged tours. Samet is supposed to be a national park, but the only thing the park service enforces is the rather high entrance fee collected from foreign visitors. But, Samet is still lovely: not developed with high-rises, and has more than their fair share of white sandy beaches. I’d spent many months there, especially at Ao Nuan Bungalow (but stopped once I realized the owner had some serious karma issues), during my early nomad years because of its proximity to Bangkok.

More on Koh Samet please.
