Before their were periodic visa-run trips to Penang to make, I had traveled to it’s historic old town, George Town, as a backpacker. I suppose what caught my attention most then were the artistically decaying British era buildings, along with its mixed influences of both architecture and people. Although Malaysia is predominately Muslim, George Town has a pleasant mix of Chines, Indian, Buddhists and Christians, along with European expats.

unesco More on George Town please. tipsTip: The Indian food darn good there. And for affordable, old world accommodations, try the Cathay Hotel.
