Good old Egypt. Good old frustrating Egypt! On one hand, the archeological sights are second to none: the pyramids, Valley of the Kings, Luxor, the Western Desert and Cairo’s Old City. The way the country and its people embrace the old ways of living is phenomenal. It’s time travel. It’s sort of magical, really. On the other hand, I think the society is as dysfunctional as a “Family Guy” episode. Aside from the women being marginalized and shut in (thus only getting the pent-up, male, perspective), getting a fair, or even consistent, price for something—without having to bargain for half an hour (like a can of Coke)—or someone not trying to take advantage of you can be elusive. But, it is Egypt. It’s worth the hassle.
